The US-China Tech War

"The possibility of a great fracture: the world splitting into two with the two largest economies on Earth creating two separate and competing worlds, each with their own dominant currency, trade and financial rules, their own internet and artificial intelligence capacities and their own zero-sum geopolitical and military strategies." - warned António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, on the negative consequences of the US-China Tech War🇺🇸🇨🇳💻 ❗️The Tech War is engulfing not only individual countries but also virtually all continents❗️The US and China's competing spheres of technological influence with different technological standards such as in 5G and artificial intelligence are having far-reaching consequences. It is pressuring change in various countries' diplomatic strategy of neutrality by forcing them to choose between the two spheres of influence. This risks making technologies of countries from different spheres incompatible, and thus obstructs regional cooperation in geopolitical crises - such as in transnational crime and refugee crisis - and in sectors beyond the tech industry. He is also an Associate Fellow at Chatham House. He has published a number of books and publications on the Chinese economy and politics. Ms Fuchs is an international Business Journalist, Event Moderator and TV anchor. Expert on China and the Middle-East as well as speaking 9 languages. She currently works for the Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua and the China Global Television Network (CGTN). She has also worked for CNN Money and Reuters. Mr Macfarlane is a Policy Fellow at UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose.
